Sunday's Serenade: Tony Bennett

Truly, Fly Me To The Moon sung by Tony Bennett has always been a favorite of mine. Just perfect for a Sunday Serenade and I also think it is the perfect "first dance" for any wedding. Enjoy!

Tony Bennett is a master, perhaps impossible to beat, except in the mind of a young boy who had a hard on for Julie London.
Although not her best, Doris Day also covered this song, few people remember her as a big band singer. On this date in 1945 –The number one Billboard Pop Hit was “Sentimental Journey,”by the Les Brown Orchestra and, the young vocalist named, Doris Day. The song was one of the most popular tunes of the Second World War era, and it is one of the top big band recordings of the swing era. Because of Doris' long and successful Hollywood acting/singing career, even her own generation tends to overlook her place as one of the very finest swing band vocalists.

I think there was a cover of this very song over the ending credits of that popular anime TV series Neon Genesis Evangelion. I could be wrong though. :p
